Job Description :
Peterson CAT has an immediate opening for a Lab Technician in our Oil Analysis Lab in Eugene. Reporting to Lab Supervisor, position is responsible for performing all laboratory functions concerning oil and coolant sampling and testing. Job responsibilities include instrument troubleshooting, quality control, sample interpretation, and communication with customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, include but not limited to:
Careful handling and cataloging of oil sample containers daily
Prepare samples for analysis; as needed prepare rush sample analysis
Set up instrumentation for daily analysis runs
Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
Enter sample data into database to track sample volume; maintain customer database with accuracy and timeliness to ensure integrity of information
Perform particle count analysis, coolant analysis, and all other sample analysis as needed
Monitor status of inventory and ordering stock as needed
Maintain cleanliness in lab for safety and neat / clean appearance
Dump oil and coolant waste each day
Keep track of new oil references for instruments
Interpret sample results and contact customers when needed
Act as reference for internal and external customers; research machine traits
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:
Posses high school diploma, or the equivalent. Some college coursework in math helpful
Possess knowledge of weights and measures; familiarity with laboratory equipment preferred
Possess basic computer and good math skills; ability to type 30 - 40 wpm
Knowledge of Caterpillar equipment strongly preferred; mechanical aptitude helpful
Previous laboratory experience desired; willingness to get hands dirty
Seeking responsible individual with record of good attendance and punctuality
Ability to handle stressful situations professionally, a high degree of responsibility, and possess good decision-making skills
Possess willingness to learn, is self-motivated, and takes pride in a job well doneEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
