The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies is recruiting for the position of Program and Grant Coordinator. This is 1.0 FTE Officer of Administration fixed-term position, beginning approximately December 1, 2014. Annual contract renewal is contingent upon renewed grant funds.
The Program and Grant Coordinator will report to the Director of the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies.

Responsibilities:
The Program and Grant Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of CAPS programs, including the newly funded National Resource Center for East Asian Studies program grant. This will involve facilitating faculty, student, and community programs related to teaching and research of East Asian Studies.
Specific responsibilities include:
Manage specialized programs between UO and faculty at other Oregon institutions of higher education, including collaborating with the Director on the planning of curricular and professional development activities
Manage all program logistics, including contracts, speaker scheduling, travel arrangements, and publicity. Some evening and weekend work required. It will also involve hosting distinguished visitors to the UO by introducing them to UO faculty, staff, and students, and arranging special meetings and receptions on campus.
Manage the program evaluation process by collaborating with the Director and Associate Director on implementing evaluation instruments, collecting data, and creating reports. Work with external evaluators on annual evaluations.
Work with Associate Director on budgets, manage payments and reimbursements, assist in quarterly reports on expenditures, and work with the funding agency on grant reporting, policies, and procedures.
Assist the Associate Director to coordinate the Center's internal funding competitions--including development of funding guidelines, proposal review, and notifications to applicants.
Assist the Director, Associate Director and faculty members in grant writing to private foundations and federal agencies.
Provide first point-of-contact for visitors; troubleshoot a variety of day-to-day issues to assure programs run smoothly.
Supervise student assistants, including managing the hiring and scheduling of student workers.
Support other CAPS special projects and miscellaneous administrative activities.
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree
International degree and/or overseas experience
Minimum three years' administrative experience, preferably within a higher education environment
Demonstrated program development, management, budget-tracking, and reporting experience
Event planning experience (some travel and weekend/evening work required)
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Familiarity with external funding, preferably federal grants
Familiarity with curriculum and/or program development
Demonstrated experience working with faculty, staff, and/or students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Must be flexible and able to work well on a team as well as individually
Organizational, time-management, and intercultural skills
Attention to detail
Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm
Preferred qualifications
Master's degree
Experience in East Asia
Knowledge of Chinese, Japanese, and/or Korean
Demonstrated experience in international academic program development
Experience with program evaluation

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
